Miles Climbed in One Year (2009)

First Assents

It didn’t take much for Frank to get hooked on climbing. All it took was one unsuccessful try on a very simple climb and that was all she wrote.

At the young age of 10, two years before Woodstock, Frank had his first climb in Macedonia State Park, Ct. The funny thing was that besides being scared half to death, Frank could not make it up the climb.. Things changed though three weeks later when he took a Rock Climbing class in Pound Ridge New York and learned what he needed to do to achieve the top of a climb. Frank went back to Macedonia State Park a couple years later and completed that first climb which carried a rating of 5.2.

Frank is certified as an IRATA level 1 (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) and has worked in the area of High Angle Rigging during the past several years. Frank also does consulting for climbing gyms including new start-ups and inspections.

Frank was the Chairman of the CWA Committee to develop the Climbing Wall Instructor certification program 2009-2013. He has served on numerous boards in the Grand Rapids community and has been a leader of the Grand Ledge Climbers Coalition since it’s inception. Frank is also certified as a Provider/Instructor for the Climbing Wall Instructors certification. Frank graduated from Northwestern Theological Seminary in 2014 with a Th.D in Biblical Studies and a Ph.D. in Biblical Philology

Frank is also an ordained clergyman in the Church of God.
